TDK presents exceptional English tenor Ian Bostridge in a recital of lieder by Franz Schubert and Hugo Wolf. The recital was recorded live in February 2000 and formed part of the acclaimed VOICES OF OUR TIME series at the Theatre Musical de Paris-Chatelet. Ian Bostridge presented a selection of lieder by two of the most famous composers of the genre, Schubert and Wolf, whose works represent both the beginning and the end of this tradition.

Ian Bostridge made his debut at London's Wigmore Hall in 1993; one year later he performed Schubert's Winterreise in the Purcell Room and at the Aldeburgh Festival, and played Lysander in Benjamin Britten's Midsummer Night's Dream at the Edinburgh Festival. He publishes articles in the Times Literary Supplement, BBC Music Magazine, Opera Now, Independent and other newspapers and magazines. Concert tours have taken him across Europe and to the USA. His countless awards include the Gramophone Award for the best vocal recording in 1998 (Schumann: Dichterliebe), the Choc de l'Annee of the French journal La Monde de la Musique (Britten: Our Hunting Fathers), the 1998 Album of the Year Award of the Polish journal Studio (Schubert: Lieder), the Time Out Classical Music Award in 1999, the Critics' Choice Classical Brit Award in 2000 (English Songbook) and the German Record Critics' Award (Henze: Sechs Gesange aus dem Arabischen).

Ian Bostridge is highly in demand as song recitalist, concert and opera singer. He will tour extensively in 2004, appearing at the major summer festivals and a taking Schubert's Winterreise on a tour through the major concert halls in Europe and America. He is also performing at the BBC Proms on 1st August in Britten's War Reqiuem alongside Simon Keenlyside and Sir Colin Davis, and at the Edinburgh Festival on 29th August.
